Ms. compilation, dated 1889 in Mareuil-lès-Meaux (Seine-et-Marne), France, of music and words to 46 chants used by various Indian tribes from northwest Canada in their dances, games, and war ceremonies, collected, transcribed, and notated by Father Emile Petitot during the years he spent in Mackenzie, British Columbia as a missionary priest to the Indians, between 1862 and 1882. Music is arranged on 5-line staves, in modern round notation, and includes words in various Indian languages, as well as Petitot's notes in French.
